Profile: After graduating with a Pre-Med degree in Genetic Biology from Purdue University in 1994, Kristen spent 22 years working in Corporate America as a Sales Executive, Business Consultant, and Strategy Consulting Executive. She started practicing yoga in 1996 as a way to manage stress, stay fit, and counteract the effects of sitting at a desk all day. In 2005, Kristen was diagnosed with a neurological condition that caused debilitating chronic pain, severe physical dysfunction, and landed her in a wheelchair. After over a decade of hard work on the path to healing, including leveraging yoga to help heal her body, mind and spirit, she chose to dedicate her life to helping others thru the healing power of yoga. She specializes in a traditional, therapeutic style of yoga and strives to bring healing energy to every class she teaches.
Class Description: This well-rounded yoga class seeks to transform the mind, body and spirit. Postures are slowly repeated in rhythm with the breath to balance, stretch and strengthen the body while calming and centering the mind. Students are encouraged to use deep yoga breathing to generate awareness of the body, work thru restrictions, and overcome dysfunctional movement patterns. Plenty of modifications are provided to make postures accessible to all students, including beginners and those with physical limitations, while providing options to challenge more advanced students. Come join us and experience the ease of renewed movement and the joy of a peaceful mind. Mats provided (or bring your own).
